Organize the Garage with Slatwall

Posted in Education on May 31st, 2009

If you’re like most people, the garage is the last location to organize. So you keep tripping over boxes, tools, toys, cleaning supplies; whatever won’t fit in the house, goes into the garage, right? And then, perhaps you keep thinking that one day you’re going to clean up the whole mess and get it organized.

Fast-forward your life to the day you install Slatwall in your garage.

Let’s reiterate what led to this decision.

You learned that Slatwall is a great product that can help get items off the floor and stored on the wall. Slatwall is actually paneling that is attached to the garage wall and allows you to hang anything on the walls. The panels are attached to the exposed beams or applied over the existing drywall. It’s easy enough for one person to install.

Now you’re ready to hang the slatwall accessories such as hooks, racks, shelves, cabinets by simply sliding them into the paneling grooves on the wall. The grooves allow flexibility to arrange and re-arrange however you want things. The beauty is in the ease of installation and the versatility to make changes at any time.

The best slatwall panel to use in the garage is made of PVC Durawall. It is fire retardant, waterproof, bug proof and can hold approximately 50 pounds per hook. Slatwall is available in many colors as well as a wood-grain pattern. It’s easy to clean.
So next time you struggle to get out of the car and negotiate your way into the house, fast-forward to your slatwall paneled garage.

Spackle and Slatwall

Posted in Education on May 30th, 2009

My parents are the proud owners of a newly built home. They spent the last 30 years of their marriage in their “starter” home. This first home my parents built as newlyweds in the late 1970s and it was just going to be temporary until they could move into something a little bigger for their family. Over the years, they found moving not as important as raising their children and having fun memories together. I remember helping finish the basement in the house with my dad, spackling drywall or, I guess, watching him spackle the drywall was more like it. It was a great house and even though we were cramped for space most of the time, it was full of fun times we spent together. I knew it was time to move because our family had outgrown that home, but it was still hard to leave.

The other weekend, I visited my parents’ new house. My father had recently finished the garage with some spackle and a fresh coat of paint. It looked great! I saw a piece of slatwall my father had gotten from a former job leaning up again the side of the garage wall. I remembered how he had saved so many things from our old house that he hated to part with. He had saved this slatwall so he could store these items and keep them organized. I know it’s sometimes hard to leave the past and move on to the future, but we don’t have to completely forget. Little things like this will help us remember. I know when I see our garage full of slatwall and boxes of odd-and-ends, things we’ve collected and saved, it will always help me remember so many memories. Now that I’m married and have a place of my own, I need a way to store things as well. I figure why not buy a piece of slatwall and get started? There’s a website at www.spacewall.com that I’m looking into. There are so many choices and they look better than the one my dad has, but it isn’t always about looks. For me, it’s having a way to keep the things I love in a way that will be manageable. That way, my husband won’t have any reason to throw away my boxes of “stuff.”

Summers Spent In Concession Trailers

Posted in Medical on May 29th, 2009

I was at a little league baseball game for my husband’s younger brother last week. We sat there for two hours on hard metal benches while the sun went down and the goose bumps came out. I love little league baseball, but sometime there are only so many walks you can watch before you totally zone out. There is just something that I need at a baseball game that helps get me through it. Know what I mean? I am talking about food! I was saved from boredom a few times by the aroma or hot dogs, nachos and popcorn flowing out from the concession stand. Once I had a hot bag of buttery popcorn, I was perfectly content to stay there for at least another hour.
My husband’s younger sister even works at the concession stand some nights. I remember working at a custom concession trailer when I was younger. It was an easy summer job for me to start out will because I would just sell hot dogs and popsicles to the young kids as they went from game to game. I just looked online and I saw a website that sells custom concession trailers. It’s at www.customconcessiontrailer.com. I do admit these trailers are much better than the one that I worked in years ago. It is practically a portable restaurant where the food will come to you. I have even seen things similar to this in parking lots around my neighborhood selling tacos or gyros. In fact, now that I’m thinking about that yummy food again, next time I’m on my way home I think I’ll stop and pick up dinner!

Choosing a Massachusetts Bank

Posted in Education on May 28th, 2009

I have many family members who are involved with the banking industry. In fact, my husband is currently getting a degree in business finance and is working at a bank to learn more about the industry at the same time. My father was a bank manager for over thirty years and I have two brothers who have worked for different banks as well. So if you can imagine, I’ve always had a bank account and have been kept up to pace on the newest interest rates available. My family has always helped me manage my money. I never really imagined that some people don’t use banks. Where would they put all of their money? It just doesn’t make sense to me because I love banking and I always have.
I guess if someone was looking to get into banking for the first time, it could be a little confusing because there are a lot of banks out there. How would they decide which bank to choose? At www.wcu.com, I did some searching to find out more about what products are currently being offered to customers. This website is specifically dedicated for people interested in a Massachusetts bank or credit union. It lists business and personal products like loans, mortgages, lines of credit and checking accounts. It even has a place to learn about investments and insurance services. I know that most banks want your transactions to be easy and not cause you too much trouble. In a new effort to help protect the environment, they are also offering online statements. If you don’t currently use a bank, do some research to see if this would be something that could make your finances a little easier to manage. Even if you do use a bank, it’s always worth looking around at the competition to make sure you are getting the best rates from your current bank.

Why Use Slatwall for Your Business

Posted in Home on May 28th, 2009

Slatwalls are a great choice for some businesses that have a lot of inventory to display without the amount of space they really need to do so. slatwall can change a business’ aesthetic through making it possible to see all of the goods at once. Depending on what goods you have to sell, slatwall can help you increase your business by making it possible for a customer to see and choose their goods.

slatwall is essentially a wall made up of small slats, leaving spaces in between each one. These spaces are the perfect size for shelving or wire baskets, as well as anything else that can hang there. Many stores choose to hang racks on their slatwall, so that multiple goods can hang in groups. Whichever way you choose to utilize it, slatwall keeps your goods neat and organized. Installing slatwall is easy, and it is easily removed when you’re ready to take it with you. It’s the perfect short term solution for your business.

Slatwall is lightweight, and because of this, some consideration should be put into the weight of items being hung on it. Choose other lightweight items that won’t put too much pressure on the wall. It’s perfect for craft items, souvenirs, clothes, and even lighter books and magazines. Whatever you need to use it for, slatwall is a great solution to a small business space.

Can’t Get Enough of the Dean Martin Show

Posted in Medical on May 28th, 2009

I’ve always been fascinated with Italy. All throughout my childhood and even into adulthood, I’ve wanted to go over there and experience what it’s really like. From the music to the food – I love it all. While I was growing up, my parents humored my obsession by allowing me to play Italian music on our stereo while we ate the yummy Italian food I would prepare all by myself. Spaghetti, of course, was a favorite while I was young. As I grew, I learned to make soups, breads, and even pasta from scratch!
One Christmas, my parents gave me a Dean Martin greatest hits CD and I played it for weeks straight. It didn’t matter that his music was even older than the music my parents listened to. It was fun, romantic and just what a teenage girl needed. Well, I think some of you have seen an advertisement for the Dean Martin Show DVDs. I really didn’t know this show even existed because I was born in the 1980s, but I’m very interested in it. I even looked it up online at dvdhunters.com/deanvarity.htm to get some more information. Television just doesn’t have that kind of variety show that Dean Martin had back then. It just looks like a DVD full of celebrity appearances, comedy skits and singing! I hope that someday we can get a show like the Dean Martin Show going on television today. What a FUN show!

VOIP Services Coming Of Age

Posted in Education on May 28th, 2009

Some things are simply a must have to stay competitive, increase productivity, and save money. With the advent of Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP service, traditional telephone systems are rapidly becoming a thing of the past, and for good reason. VoIP is a term used for a service that translates normal voice communications into a digital format that can be delivered over your existing Internet connection. To further reduce costs, many high end telecommunications companies will bundle dedicated VoIP services in with your existing Internet solution

Before when a company needed more phone lines it had to contact a telephone company and physically install lines costing time and money. With VoIP, because all of the calls are considered data by your ISP, your provider has to simply give you more numbers without altering the existing infrastructure. Many companies also include traditional phone extras such as call forwarding and caller ID. VoIP also opens the door to to specialized extras such as video conferencing, share address books or data files, and forward voice mail messages to email accounts.

Finally, and perhaps the best feature of VoIP service is security. Originally the best method for secure phone connection over traditional phone lines was to digitize the transmission, encrypt the data, and send it over the line. However, with VoIP service the digitization process is already in place and more complex encryptions can be used.

Whether it’s to save money, add extra phone lines or features to your company’s phone system, or protection for sensitive calls, VoIP services offers cheap, efficient service with dedicated support

Designer Prom Dresses

Posted in Education on May 27th, 2009

With débutante balls, a girl’s coming of age party, generally out of fashion or left for the aristocratic elite, the prom has taken over a seemingly necessary milestone in young ladies lives. And, as with all social events, the dress makes the woman. Guys have it easy because for them it’s a simple black tie affair, so they slap on a tuxedo, a little aftershave, and they’re ready to go. Ladies, on the other hand, must dress to impress. The hair must be perfect, the makeup flawless, and the shoes dyed to match the dress. Some girls plan for their prom almost as much as they plan for their wedding.

They spend months picking out dresses, eying cut, style, and latest celebrity trend. The advent of the Internet has added a whole new facet to designer prom dress. Traditionally girls went to local shops or traveled to nearby cities to pick a posh dress, but now girls can view literally thousands of dresses online. Manufactures often have interactive web pages that display the dress in the variety of colors they offer. Such options almost guarantee that no two girl will show up dressed alike! To keep the guys in the loop, many places even offer cummerbunds, ties, and waistcoats matching the color of the dress.

While the days of the Grand Formal or Leaver’s parties might be forgotten, their legacy of the posh, sometimes garish, one last party remains. Men’s and women’s fashion has changed greatly over the past century or more, but one thing remains: prom goers look as radiant and spectacular as the event they attend, and all that begins with all girls’ dreams of their designer prom dress.

Common Floor Mats

Posted in Medical on May 25th, 2009

Floor mats are used everywhere, in the home, the garage, the workplace, etc. Most of us don’t put a whole lot of thought into what we are standing or walking on, but there are many uses for floor mats. Most of them revolve around making our lives just a little bit easier or safer.

The floor mat that most of us can relate to is the exercise mat. We used it during gym in high school; we use it when we exercise, and our kids use it when they do karate or gymnastics. It’s versatile and saves us from potential accidents when we fall and from pain in our backs from inadequate support.

The second floor mat that we are all familiar with is the entrance mat. Normally these are placed at the entrances to most businesses, especially during the winter when it’s cold and wet. While we don’t benefit directly from these mats the business does. The mats stop the track of dirt and dust into the building, which makes it cleaner and saves the company cleaning costs.

The last floor mat is actually used almost as an advertisement. Custom logo floor mats are very common. You’ll find them in high schools, usually with the school mascot imprinted on them and you’ll find them in quite a few businesses. Custom logo floor mats are a great way to add a professional touch to a business or help spread enthusiasm for a school.

These few types of floor mats are really just the tip of the iceberg. There are many types available including industrial, commercial, home, and car. If you find yourself in need of one you won’t be disappointed with the variety available to you.

Benefits of Using EMR’s

Posted in Business on May 25th, 2009

When you run a successful medical establishment you have a constant influx of patients, both old and new. It used to be that each patient had a paper record which held all of their medical information. Things are changing, however, and many medical establishments are turning to EMR’s or electronic medical records to keep track of their patient’s medical history for organizational and time saving reasons.

There are a few benefits of using EMR’s, not the least of which is time. It’s a much faster process to update electronically than it is to update a paper file. When files are electronic you can simply add the information the moment you get it from the patient. When they’re not electronic you get the fun task of dictating or updating records hours after your daily shift has ended.

EMR’s are also beneficial because it is much easier to keep your patient files organized with an electronic system. Every one of your patient’s can be in your computer system. When you need to find a file all you have to do is input a name into the search and it’ll pull it up. This makes the process of updating easy and it makes the process of diagnosis and treatment easier as well. Any previous illnesses or potential lethal doses due to drug allergies will be able to be pulled up in three seconds flat.

When you get your electronic medical records set up you’ll be amazed at how much easier it is to keep track of the records. You might have a few kinks to work out, but in the end you’ll be glad you updated to electronic files.
