Advertise on the Internet and Expand

Posted in Business on October 30th, 2009

When it comes down to advertising, most business owners do not want to spend any more money than is really necessary in order to get the same results. It is great getting more business, but if you are paying too much money for it, you are just wasting money. Also, if you find out that you would get the same business traffic regardless of whether or not you advertised a certain way, money is being wasted. That is why it is very important to have some kind of a way to track how customers heard about your business. Do most of your new customers come from client referrals or is it because of some actual advertising you are paying for? Instead of just turning to the local telephone directories or billboards which can be quite expensive, I offer a new thought for you. Invest in some internet marketing for your small business and see exactly how your business traffic is affected. You can have a team of professionals working for your business to make it more popular.

There are some businesses which advertise on local levels while other businesses are nationwide companies. When you are using internet marketing, it does not really matter whether you are looking to find customers locally or nationally. These internet marketing companies will help you get set up with what you are looking for. Go to http://www.orangesoda.com to see one internet marketing business learn what services they can provide to you. Many people use the internet these days to find information and this is just another way for potential customers to find your business.

The Holidays are Coming: It’s A Great Time To Give Eco Gifts

Posted in Education on October 21st, 2009

If you are anything like me, you’re already starting to think about what to give people for the holidays. This year, I’m trying to reduce my personal carbon footprint by giving presents that reflect a philosophy of conservation and earth-responsibility. You don’t have to give up imaginative giving either: thanks to the increased awareness on all things green, there has never been a better selection of eco gifts to choose from. Here are some ideas to spur your imagination and get your shopping juices flowing “green!”

– Homeopathic health and beauty products

Everyone can use a little relief of stress, and the safest way to get help is to use a homeopathic remedy spray formulated especially to have anti-stress properties. Look for all kinds of organic health and beauty products to give as eco gifts: they will always be appreciated.

– Living learning eco gifts

For the little environmentalists in your life, why not give them an old-fashioned time-tested experience with living creatures? Eco gift manufacturers have ant habitats as well as habitats for butterflies and ladybugs to give young learners hours of fun and learning.

– Green clothing

For the clothes horse in your family or circle of friends, check the internet for a great selection of green clothing made from natural fibers or even recycled materials. Clothing made from soy, bamboo, and other renewable, eco-friendly resources look great, feel great, and are always hypo-allergenic. Besides, such clothing is great fun because it becomes an instant conversation piece.

Make a conscious effort this year to give eco gifts that are practical, fun, imaginative and – most importantly – responsible. You’ll be amazed at what you find.

Imagine with me that you are out working in your garden during a warm summer morning. You are getting tired as you pull out every weed you can find to help give all of your wonderful vegetables the room they need to grow. As you begin to water each plant, you notice something that almost makes your blood boil. Many of your vegetables large holes taken out of them! What kind of animal has chosen to ruin your plants? Do you know what you can do to fix your garden?

There are many different types of pests including mice, birds and insects that could be ruining your garden a little at a time each day. Why You Should Give Clients Promotional Wall Calendars

Posted in Medical on October 19th, 2009

If you are a doctor, insurance agent, florist, banker, attorney, or just about any other kind of professional, then you need to use every means possible to keep your business front and center in the minds of your clients: one of the best ways to do this is by giving them promotional wall calendars. Here’s why.

– They provide a visual appeal of your brand! Your name and contact information emblazoned on a useful tool such as a calendar means that your clients will think about your brand on a regular basis. They will see it often, refer to it often, and when they see it they’ll remember YOU.

Promotional wall calendars are appreciated by clients because they are so useful. They’re great for personal record keeping and if you pick a colorful and/or funny design, they will look forward to seeing what new delights are in store for them on the 1st of each month.

– It’s something your clients will not throw away. They may not remember the chocolates you gave them for the holidays, and they REALLY won’t remember the greeting card. But having promotional wall calendars around the office provides a year-round reminder to them that you care.

– When you buy your calendars from The Calendar Warehouse.com (http://www.calendarwarehouse.com/) you can be assured that you will be getting the best selection of quality promotional wall calendars on the net. Their friendly service representatives will help you select the design that best suits your business’s tone and your clients’ needs.

When you choose to give calendars as gifts, they will always be appreciated, and they will always keep your name and brand front and center in your clients’ minds.

What Would the Career of a Stuntman Be Like?

Posted in Education on October 16th, 2009

The job of a movie stuntman has got to be a fun one. They don’t have to worry about their script, or of having the paparazzi follow them everywhere they go, yet they get to participate on all the cool movies sets and action scenes of movies. I never heard of a degree in stuntman-ship or anything, so I wonder how you become one.

I know that the guy who played Darth Maul in Star Wars Episode I was a true martial arts expert and a master of the use of swords. Maybe all stunt guys are karate guys. All kidding aside, my understanding is that it is a very competitive field; so much so, in fact, that most stuntmen are unwilling to share their road map to success, for fear of training the competition.

Apparently the best advice I have found online to train to become a stuntman is to learn how to state fight. I wonder if that is how Chuck Norris or Steven Segal began their careers. Maybe they aspired to be stuntmen at first and then went to the big time.

I wonder what type of insurance is available for a stuntman. Lloyds of London has been known to insure extreme things, such as a whole in one contest for a million dollars, or insuring the hands of a dentist. Maybe a stuntman could take out a fire suit malfunction policy, or a sword injury policy. I realize that my thought have been a bit random, but just thought it would be cool to be a stuntman for a day.

Pittsburgh Made For An Excellent Vacation

Posted in Medical on October 12th, 2009

We have some good friends that used to be next door neighbors of ours that moved to Pittsburgh. They wanted to stay in Utah, but they got a job offer that they could not refuse. For some time, they encouraged us to visit them but being that Pennsylvania is so far from Utah, we couldn’t justify it. The truth of it is, we did not realize how great a vacation town Pittsburgh can be. What we now know is that Pittsburgh rivals that of Southern California and Orlando Florida.

The first thing I recommend is the Carnegie Science Center with many attractions ranging from Robo World which boasts that world’s largest robotics display, to the USS Requin Submarine, an actual cold war submarine that is open to tour. How awesome is that?

The night life is also amazing. Whatever you are looking for there is a Pittsburgh venue for everyone. There are enough quality restaurants, with or without table side entertainment that you will never have to eat at the same place twice.

We discovered that Pittsburgh is a hub for the arts. Simply taking a walk around Pittsburgh, you will see enough free public art that you will leave feeling like you owe someone admission to an art museum. During the summer time, there is a concert series that brings music to many of the parks, as well cinema in the park which shows clean family friendly movies in the enjoyment of the outdoors. We have certainly found joy in vacationing outside the box. Pittsburgh will be seeing us again.

Tips For Organizing Your Kitchen Once And For All

Posted in Education on October 11th, 2009

One of the main reasons that families have been eating out so much in the last decade is because Mom is tired at the end of the day and simply can’t face the idea of looking at her messy kitchen! If this sounds like you, then perhaps it’s time to get that kitchen organized and easy to work in once and for all. In today’s down economy, most families cannot afford to keep eating out like they used to: home cooked meals are not only much cheaper, they also foster family unity, togetherness, and communication.

You don’t have to spend a ton of money or remodel to get organized either. Here are some tips:

– Go through your drawers and cupboards and do some really serious accounting and assessing. Women are especially prone to keep too many kitchen gadgets on hand “just in case:” if you don’t use it regularly, give it away. You don’t need two can openers or three nutcrackers. Get rid of everything superfluous. Throw away old food and donate non-perishable unopened items that you will probably never use. It’s hard to say goodbye, but it’s essential!

– Reassess the physical placement of your utensils. Make stirring spoons and potholders easily accessible and place items logically according to your cooking methodology. Your kitchen should be a place where it is pleasant and convenient to prepare meals.

– Become a fan of plastic containers: They will help you stay organized and tidy, and your food will stay fresher and insect-free.

– Get dividers for your drawers. Dividers are a great way to get organized in a snap and maximize your drawer space.

– Get your recipes organized so that you’ll actually want to cook! Invest in recipe software specifically designed for home use, and make all those disorganized recipes easy to find at the touch of a button.

Getting organized once and for all takes a little time and dedication, but it is well worth the effort.

Some Ideas For Encouraging Young Kids To Write

Posted in Education on October 9th, 2009

In this technological age, writing perhaps is becoming a lost art. Kids are more likely to be playing video games, watching TV, messing around on the computer, or text messaging their friends than exercising their imaginations. But it is essential that parents not give up: kids must learn how to communicate effectively in writing, no matter what career they end up in; traditionally, young children learn to write by making up and writing down their own stories. Here are some ideas that you can use to help spur their imaginations.

– Cloud formations: Using a digital camera, go outside on a beautiful day and let your child take 5 to 8 pictures of cloud formations. Once the photos are printed, let him study them for a while and determine what he thinks the clouds “are.” Then let him use a pen to make a sketch of what he sees right on the cloud. Then he can use his “cloud creations” as characters in a story he makes up.

– Magazine people: Great stories seldom start with a plot; rather, they start with characters! If your child is having a hard time picturing a character to write about, let her sift through a magazine and pick out some pictures that intrigue her. They may be of people; they may be animals, even plants or a car. The point is, you are giving her a visual jumping off point from which to create the characters she can then write about.

– Summer camps: Summer camps are great for going swimming and canoeing, but how about for writing? Your child may really benefit from getting her writing juices flowing in a fun environment with others who want to write too. If you are looking for San Francisco summer camps that offer something creative, look into the Lekha School of Creative Writing. Lekha’s young campers actually publish their works and learn strategies for better, more creative writing from trained professionals who also make it FUN!

Don’t let writing become a lost art in your family: do everything you can to help your children learn a love of writing.
