Living Large In Edgewater, NJ

Posted in Education on October 8th, 2009

If you are in the market for real estate in the New York City area, perhaps you should look into crossing the Hudson River and research some of the gorgeous Edgewater NJ condos that are available today.

Edgewater is a small and intimate community located in the northeastern part of the state in the county of Bergen. Because it only covers 2.6 square miles and contains a mere 8,000 residents, it is one of the most exclusive suburbs of New York. It has undergone a number of changes over the years: as an early settlement it was an integral part of the settling of the area; in the 1800’s, its proximity to the water and to the city made it an ideal area for resort hotels; finally, with the coming of the industrial age, Edgewater became a much sought-after residential community.

The population of the area, as would be expected, is highly educated: a full 55% of the adult population has a college degree, 20% of which are at the graduate level. The median age is 38, so there is a healthy mix of all kinds of lifestyles and life situations. The community has its own charming public library, stores, schools, and all the amenities necessary to a high quality of life.

Edgewater NJ condos are the most affordable homes for purchase in the area. Prices range from the $250K’s to about $1.4 million. Many condominiums boast amazing views of New York, and may be as large as 4 bedrooms with generous square footage.

Thanks to the downturn in real estate, there are more Edgewater NJ condos available on the market than ever before at excellent prices. An agent such as those at Prominent Properties who specializes in the area will be able to give you all the information you need to make a good decision and find the perfect home you’ve been dreaming of.

Going on a Cruise Will Give You a Taste of the Good Life

Posted in Medical on October 8th, 2009

I love special treatment. My wife and I first experienced this when we went on a Mexican Riviera Cruise. We had never been on a cruise before, but we were treated like royalty. It is like going on a vacation, without all the stresses and troubles that normally come along with it.

You have the same advantages as staying in a nice hotel. Your bed is made and your room is kept clean by the staff, and there is easy access to whatever you need. Meals are always available in whatever variety you want and whenever you want it. If you want midnight pizza, it is hot and ready. My wife was surprised when the dinner waiter asked her if she wanted more Lobster. She asked, “Is this a trick question?” When you do not have to worry about menu costs, or quantity, the only concern is an expanding waistline. On the ship there is always plenty to do from rock climbing, swimming, exercising, reading while you relax in the sun, dancing, and getting pampered at the spa. Last but not least, you get to visit all these awesome places, and all your travel arrangements are taken care of.

When you get back on land, you tend to miss that type of life. We have found some substitutes that carry us over until our next cruise. We can go to our favorite Longview spa, and have love eating out at restaurants. Once you have had a taste of this type of life, you want to keep it around.

Posted in Medical on October 7th, 2009

If you are new to the Los Angeles area, you have probably already learned how hot it can get here! Temperatures hovering near the 100 degree mark are not unusual, and if your fridge goes out in the middle of a heat wave, the situation can quickly turn dire. Although there are plenty of Los Angeles appliance repair services vying for your business, there are few who really do it right: with you in mind. Here are just 3 of the many great reasons why Hi-Tech Appliance Repair should take care of all your Los Angeles appliance repair needs.

1. Same-Day Service

When your freezer-full of expensive meats is thawing at an alarming speed or your dryer is broken and you have laundry piled up a mile high, the last thing you want to hear from a repair man is that he “might” be able to fit you in a week from Tuesday! This is why Hi-Tech offers same day service 7 days a week: because you never know when disaster will strike and you don’t want to wait to have a broken appliance taken care of.

2. Factory-Trained and Experienced Technicians

If you’d wanted an amateur to fix your fridge, you would have called your Uncle Louie! Hi-Tech knows that when you call them, you want an expert technician to come to your home and not someone who is still “in training.” Hi-Tech personnel are all factory-trained and they are committed to providing their customers with prompt, reliable service.

3. Written Estimates

Have you ever had workers come into your home, quote you one price and then charge you another? Fewer things are more frustrating than hidden fees and add-ons. With Hi-Tech, absolutely no work is performed until you have been given a written estimate and you have authorized the work to be done. Period. In fact, Hi-Tech guarantees that they will beat any competitor’s written estimate by at least 10%.

These are just 3 of the reasons why you should contact Hi-Tech for all of your Los Angeles appliance repair needs. When the fridge conks out or the microwave explodes, you can count on them to make things right.

You Should Visit Decorah IA

Posted in Education on October 2nd, 2009

In our fast paced world, sometimes it is nice to get away and take a break. I often think of what it would have been like to live a couple centuries ago, where we didn’t have so much going on from day to day. Don’t get me wrong, I love technology and everything our life has now, but just curious. I grew up in Utah, which was first settled in 1847. It is always interesting to learn about all the history of the mormon pioneers here. I also recently discovered another town in Iowa that was settled about the same time, 1849. The town is Decorah. Of course all modern technology exists there, but it seems to have preserved a lot of the original history as well. It is one of those towns that you feel at home in when you first arrive.

If you plan on moving there, there are a lot of premier Decorah real estate locations. If you are just passing through, I suggest taking your time. Allow yourself to slow down for a minute and savor your visit. There are all the typical things to do from dining and drama, to museums and entertainment. My favorite part is all the outdoor activities there are to do. Camping and Canoeing are always favorites, as well as biking or a hike in a park. If you like to golf or go fishing, you will certainly be impressed with all the choices, with this authentic, historic, wonderful town.

Ideas For California Elementary Schools to Help Children Be More Earth-Aware

Posted in Medical on October 1st, 2009

Children represent the future of our planet, and they are open-minded and teachable. Put these two facts together and you can see why it’s important to educate people about environment and conservation issues while they’re still young! There are many ways that California elementary schools can help children learn to be more earth-aware and more responsible present and future citizens. Here are some ideas.

– Start an in-school recycling program: If your school is still not recycling paper, it’s not too late to start! Schools use millions of pounds of paper of all shapes, sizes, and types each and every year. Many millions of those pounds are now being recycled thanks to environmentally-aware teachers and staff. Keep several recycling bins in the parking lot to encourage patrons to recycle as well. Each grade should have a weekly designated “recycling squad” that goes around to each classroom daily to empty trash cans into the recycling bins.

– Have a “recyclables sculpture” demonstration: The PTA can send home flyers encouraging every child to bring just one piece of recyclable material from home by a designated date. In an average school, this means about 500-600 pieces of trash! Have parent volunteers collect the trash from each classroom and create a “recyclables sculpture” on a movable sheet of light plywood. Display the sculpture as a demonstration to the children about how much we throw away each day and the difference each of them can make when they recycle.

– Host environmentally-themed school assemblies: Shows That Teach is a wonderful business whose employees stage environmentally-themed school assemblies in California. Students are educated about environmental issues through entertaining musical productions that are never preachy, but get the conservation point across in a fun way. At school assemblies in California, Shows That Teach addresses recycling, wise water usage and a host of other timely topics for children in the Golden State.

Children want to be responsible Earth citizens, and schools can go a long way toward helping them achieve that goal.
