Take Me To The Game
Posted in Entertainment on June 15th, 2010At Wrigley Field the fans of the Cubs that have gathered in the stadium for 95 seasons have been able to see some amazing feats of baseball take place from the stands that can house more than 40,000 spectators at one time. As Americas favorite pastime, baseball has been played for over one hundred years by boys that dream of making it to the major leagues and who practice for hours on end pitching, hitting, throwing and catching the hard ball around. On occasion however a stray ball will fly out of bounds of the park or street where play takes place and inadvertently cause some damage to a house in the neighborhood.
With the sound of shattering glass and the follow up screaming that accompanies a broken pane the players begin to scatter in as many different directions as they can before the homeowner comes out to yell and the boys, and possibly catch one of them. Not wanting to take responsibility for their actions the team disbands for the day and usually finds a new place to practice while the heat wares off. Unfortunately for the homeowner the cost of replacement windows in Chicago neighborhoods comes out of their pocket, but they do get to keep the baseball that surprised them and that discourages the well meaning kids from coming back around. Faced with the threat of being caught and punished by having to pay for the damage done the boys will often search out a new place to play as they continue to dream of being on the roster for their favorite ball club.
