Caring for an Elderly Parent? Understanding Your Options

Posted in Kitchen and Housewares on September 24th, 2010

If you have a loved one who is aging and is in need of some assistance, you need to understand the caregiving options. Many individuals think that the only choices are putting their loved one in a rest home or caring for their relative in their own home full time. In truth, there are many different types of assistance that you can find for your loved one, and your best option is to customize a care giving plan that best meets the desires of your loved one and the ability of others around them to meet their needs.

Home care in Montgomery county is a great option, allowing your loved one to live in your home or in their own familiar surroundings and receive the assistance they need from day to day. There are several types of home care, ranging from a few hours a week to full time day and night. Many home care agencies can provide your loved one with a live in nurse or companion, if your loved one needs full time care. Part time caregiving is a good option for many families who are caring for an elderly relative, and need assistance from time to time.

Part time caregiving is known as respite care, whether it is in the home or out of the home. You can have a home care respite caregiver come to your home several times a week or every day, depending on your needs. You can also provide your loved one with out-of-home respite care, including adult day programs a few days a week. Out of home respite care also includes caregiver support groups, which are important for the health of family caregivers.

Changing The Look Of A Bathroom

Posted in Kitchen and Housewares on June 14th, 2010

When my husband and I moved into our new apartment, we took one look at the faded, peeling laminate floor in the bathroom and decided the apartment could use a little remodeling.  We got approval from our landlord to rip out the old bathroom flooring and replace it with new tile.  My husband offered to do the work and the landlord paid for the materials.  We picked out a nice neutral color of ceramic tile.

With the help of a contractor, my husband ripped out the old flooring, made sure the concrete underneath was level, and then went to work on the tile.  While the contractor measured the tile and the space, my husband cut the tile to the appropriate length.  Before too long the tile was on the ground, carefully spaced, and ready to be grouted.  My husband and I mixed up the grout and used trowels to apply it to the tile.  Then we carefully wiped off the excess grout and before we knew it, we had a beautiful new bathroom floor.  It made a huge difference in the overall look of the space.

Changing the look of your bathroom can be something as simple as removing old flooring and replacing it with something new, like tile.  If you are a resident of California considering a bathroom remodel then the experts at Cal Bath Renovations can help.  They are experts in bathroom remodeling in Newport Beach.  Even if your need is something as simple as refinishing a tub or a shower, Cal Bath will take care of you and help you turn your old bathroom into something new and beautiful.
