How Much Do You Love the Water and Adventure?

Posted in Outdoor Living on December 15th, 2010

Are you one that loves the water?  What things do you love about the water?  Are you one that will go out in a boat if there is one available and enjoy it, but then when you go in you are fine that it is over?  Maybe you are one that loves to get out on the different tubes and get whipped around and dumped in the water.  Then there are others that love the adventure of jet skis and dumping them over and cutting the water.

These are all the mild and fun things that can be done in the water, but then you can get into waterskiing doing wild tricks.  For many they get into all of the tricks, but then are looking for something more.  They want excitement and adventure and will go to any ocean out there for more adventure.

For many they have found kitesurfing to be the latest craze that seems to be sticking around.  You might be wondering what kitesurfing is.  For those that are not water fanatics they might not have any idea.  Imagine having a large kite that will fill with the wind and pull you along in the water.  Then you are on a surfboard that you are being pulled on.  There are many tricks to the trade, but you will find that this is something that once you try it you will keep doing it.  People love it and are excited to find the latest kitesurfing gear to make the experience even better.

Family Reunions with a Little Flare

Posted in Outdoor Living on July 7th, 2010

I come from a family that loves adventure, we love whitewater rafting, rock repelling, hiking, kayaking and all boat related sports.  The love of the outdoors combined with a little adrenalin rush makes for fun family get together.   With the addition of babies and little kids through the last few years, we have had to tone down some of our activities, but we still management a couple of hours of thrill in any given family reunion, trading off the little ones, or leaving them with Grandma.  Last year we did a little rafting in Colorado, outside of Steamboat in slow moving water, all the kids came along, even the toddlers.  They loved it and hopefully have given them a taste of the things we love.

There is a company out of California, Whitewater Connection that does this very thing for large or small parties.  They are an all inclusive outfit with a campground in their central location.  The camp features hot showers and flush toilets.  The campground price is included on two-day river trips.  The camp is also available for the night preceding or following the rafting trip.  Whitewater Connection guides also double as chefs and prepare delicious evening banquets along the riverside for dinner and lunch is a deli-style buffet with meats and cheeses and all the trimmings. California whitewater rafting is beautiful, adventurous and thrilling.  The classification of rapids depends on the time you go with early spring runoff the peak for high, fast running water.  They can find water to fit any needs or area of comfort.  For the really brave and crazy they offer class 4 runs.  I am not that brave, but their guides are experts and are highly trained with many years of experience.

We love our adventures, we love that someone else does the cooking, preparing and planning.  We love to show up and have an great time with each other, whether we are rock repelling, hiking, kayaking, floating the gentle waters of Colorado or rafting in California, we want to pass on to our children the taste of all the things we love.

Make Your Landscaping a Priority

Posted in Gardening and Landscaping on June 2nd, 2010

These days many people are taking the initiative to transform their houses into the homes of their dreams.  There are so many things that can be done to make a home look better, whether homeowners take on the work themselves or hire a local contractor to do the work.  Sometimes, just a simple coat of paint or new carpet can do the job.  My brother is getting new windows put in his house this weekend.  However, one part of a home makeover that can be forgotten is the outside landscaping.  Do you know one thing that can greatly influence a new homebuyer is how they feel about a house just by the first look?  When shopping for the perfect home, most buyers want to see a picture of the house from the outside when they are reading about the features.  Curb appeal is very powerful and while some buyers may look forward to changing the yard and working on creating their own California landscape, others would prefer to have the work done before they get there.

If you want to improve your home, don’t forget about the outside landscaping and make sure that you add the necessary finishing touches to get the outside just as good looking as you would the inside.  If you do not have the time to put in all the yard work hours, call in a California landscaping company and tell them what you have in mind.  With a good plan and a little hard work, your landscaping will get all your neighbors jealous.

Taking Care of Your Lawn

Posted in Gardening and Landscaping on May 24th, 2010

Where I live in Des Moines, Iowa taking care of your lawn is one of the most important things.  We actually live in a neighborhood where if your lawn doesn’t look spectacular the home owner’s association can fine you.  That being the case we are always making sure that everything looks great.

Here are some tips on how to take care of your lawn.

The first tip is to make sure that your lawn is getting enough water.  Just like any plant grass needs water to thrive without it the grass will turn brown and dry up.  By watering your grass regularly you are giving it a better chance to thrive and look its best.

The next thing you want to do is make sure you fertilizer your lawn from time to time.  Your lawn needs to have certain fertilizers in it to grow and stay green.  By adding fertilizer occasionally to your lawn you can help it look even better.

All of this Des Moines lawn care can start to become a lot of work especially if you are working a full time job.  One of the easiest ways to handle that is to simply hire a Des Moines lawn care company to help take care of your lawn for you.  It will allow you have a great looking lawn and not take up all your spare time.

Family Business Makes Furniture Shopping Fun

Posted in Outdoor Living on March 18th, 2010

Finding new furniture and exploring all of the options that are available for furnishing a house can be a chore, but in NJ residents have come to find that buying furniture and picking out their decor is a rewarding and sometimes fun experience. The reason for this is that among all of the furniture stores in NJ only one has the reputation for being a family owned and operated business since 1905. With four floors of home furnishings that extend an entire city block the Spitaleri furniture store offers shoppers a wider selection and variety of furnishings that any other store in the immediate area.

For young couples that are moving into their first home, or empty nesters that have sent their youngest off to college, the time to furnish or refurnish a home can be exciting and challenging one. With all of the choices for bedroom sets, sofas and sectionals, to dining rooms and occasional pieces of furniture picking out the right item for the right room may be difficult, but with help of professional decorators and experienced sales people that have a family touch to their approach, the options are quickly narrowed and the selections are made.

As an added benefit to making a purchase over the other furniture stores in NJ, the Spiterali family gives their customers the services of free delivery and setup of their new home furnishings and removal of their old worn out belongings. With the ability to choose the fabric, finish and color of the individual pieces of furniture customers looking for furniture selections in NJ are not limited to the stock on hand and have the choice of designing their home the way that they want it to be.

Protect Your Valuable Coin Collection

Posted in Outdoor Living on February 24th, 2010

Do you have something that you just love to collect?  Some people collect baseball cards while other people collect stamps.  My father, for example, is a huge coin collector.  He spent his entire career in the financial industry and grew to love coins.  After graduating from college, he began working at a local bank.  He worked his way up his career ladder by working hard and continuing to learn about managing finances and how to help others do the same.  Since he spent so much time with money, collecting rare coins became a natural hobby for him.  Whenever new coins were introduced to the market, he would buy them from the bank and keep them in their newest condition and then keep them in a coin book for his collections.

Without the right supplies coin collecting may not bring you as much as you would anticipate.  If given the opportunity to rub and scratch each other, coins have a great chance of become worn and damaged due to improper care.  This will definitely take away the collecting value of each coin which is usually more than the physical monetary value.  If you tackle coin collecting with the right supplies, you will be able to keep coins clean and safe from possible scratches.  If you are looking for some great coincollecting supplies , please visit http://www.coinsupplyexpress.com.  This website offers a number of different items that can help you get the best coin collecting supplies that you need to help protect your valuable collection.

The Ultimate Musical Experience

Posted in Outdoor Living on February 19th, 2010

I love listening to live music.  There are very few experiences that equal the thrill of seeing a phenomenal band perform live.  The pulsing speakers, the hot lights, the sounds, and the smells all come together to create a unique and emotional experience.  However, a great live show is dependent on several key factors and the most important factors is the venue.  Venue is everything.  It provides the setting, the stage, the ambience, the room, and most importantly, the acoustics.  No matter how great the venue or the band’s sound system, poor acoustics will play havoc with the sound; it is guaranteed to ruin the show.  The best venues are small, intimate with a room that’s been selected for its acoustics.  If a band lists their tour dates and you see the word “arena” next to any venue name, take out your mental permanent marker and cross out the show with a big black line.  Larger bands with big special effects, lighting, pyrotechnics, and massive sound systems occasionally have the ability to make an arena show work to their advantage.  But the intimacy of smaller venues always creates a warmer, more vibrant musical experience.

If you are looking for the ultimate musical experience in Florida, the Ritz Ybor is a venue with all the right qualities for an unforgettable show.  Originally built in 1917 as a theater, the Ritz Ybor is housed in a building that was born for entertainment.  If you are looking for the best place to see concerts in Tampa, Florida, the Ritz Ybor provides the ultimate entertainment experience.
