Moments Made by Professionals

Posted in Home on July 11th, 2008

Having gotten married just over a year ago myself, there are a lot of things I remember about the experience. It was so fun to shop for a dress and look like a princess, have a wedding brunch, and gather with friends and family. Unlike most brides, I wasn’t too worried about a cake, but I was concerned about finding a good photographer because I wanted to remember that special day for years to come. And now that the dress has been worn and the food and flowers are gone, I am grateful that I was picky. My wedding pictures are beautiful and they can last forever. They also remind me of the emotions that I felt even though the memories are growing fainter with the passing of time.

Living Where the Grass is Greener

Posted in Home on June 19th, 2008

The house I grew up in stood right next to a golf course and I can honestly say that it was wonderful to have such a beautiful, green backdrop nearby that was always well maintained and manicured. Everyone admired the view from our windows that we didn’t have to lift a finger to enjoy. We did get at least one golf ball through a window but, for the most part, my family has lived in that house for 15 years without sustaining any injuries.

A Solution for Pricey California Plastic Surgery

Posted in Home on May 7th, 2008

In California, plastic surgery is a popular procedure. For example, demand for something as simple as breast augmentation is four times higher in Los Angeles than it is anywhere else in the nation. With so many clients to choose from, plastic surgeons in California don’t have to offer low prices to attract new patients.

Consequently, the cost for plastic surgery in other states, like Utah, is much more affordable. In fact, the price is so much lower in Utah than California that the expense of buying a plane ticket doesn’t even use up everything you save by going to another state for surgery.

State Incentives for Those in the Market for Illinois Homes

Posted in Home on April 27th, 2008

Speaking from a personal status and as a renter who has not taken the plunge to invest in a house yet, I was reading up on the Illinois state web pages and found some incentives for buying a house with my kind of income bracket. I found it to be pretty cool. Keep in mind that my income bracket is of the low kind, but not exactly excluding me totally from buying a house. So if I was looking to invest in some Illinois real estate, I would certainly take a look in this house buying incentive.

State Matching Funds

The incentive is called REACH and it’s used in conjunction with the Illinois Housing Development Authority and businesses who participate. So, if you are working with a company or employer who signs up with IHDA, you can get some extra cash in padding your house down payment expense.

Everything Close to Home

Posted in Home on April 18th, 2008

With so much of the state still undeveloped, there always seems to be a lot of land for sale in Maine. Unfortunately, not all real estate is created equal so you have to do your research when you’re looking for a good piece of land in Maine. Unless you are kind of like a hermit, you should make sure that some commercial entertainment and attractions are mixed in with the beautiful landscape when you purchase a piece of property.

The large lots at Great Brooks Preserve are particularly attractive because they nestled in a beautiful and untouched natural environment that will never be over-developed but they are also close to man-made attractions like ski resorts, golf courses and shopping centers.

Living on the “Maine” Land

Posted in Home on December 21st, 2007

I saw a movie recently where a family gathers at the home of their parents for a reunion of sorts, all while outside forces are attempting to wreak havoc and mayhem. The movie was funny and left me feeling good when I left the theater, but perhaps the most appealing part of the film was the setting – a log home in New England with tall evergreens surrounding a vast mountain range.

I realized, upon pondering the movie, that that is where I want to live Read the rest of this entry »

Across the country, commuter towns are gaining popularity due to the growing desire to live outside of the major cities while still enjoying the employment opportunities, industries and entertainment that larger metropolitan areas provide. Places like Brandon, Florida are becoming the home owner’s choice for taking up permanent residences Read the rest of this entry »

LidPunch – As Seen on TV

Posted in Business, Home on October 16th, 2007

Home Products Corp of Orlando, Florida has recently introduced an As Seen on TV product. The LidPunch is a hand held kitchen device and a great solution for anyone who finds themselves having trouble opening tough jars. The LidPunch uses its magnetic base to fix to the top of any jar, then it simply pops a hole in the lid to release the vacuum seal which releases the pressure on the lid. Afterwards, the lid is easily removed and you place one of the provided magnetic seals over the hole so it can be stored again. Another great solution for everyday problems.
