Inexpensive Ways to Landscape Your Yard
Many successful bargain shoppers can employ their talents towards their landscaping projects and have great success. As we all know, if you get carried away, you can blow an entire fortune in sprucing up your yard. What you don’t want to do is go to a garden supply store and use that for the basis of your landscaping ideas. Put some real thought into your yard and how you really want it. Then look at what you can do to make it all happen in a cost effective way. Often times there are free or cost effective ways to do things that would normally break the bank. Don’t feel bad if you have to landscape your yard in stages. Just take one step at a time. Not only will this be easier on your wallet, but certainly easier on your nerves.
If you are putting in a brand new yard, a sprinkler system is certainly nice. Many who are struggling financially put off the installation of a sprinkler system for more financially stable times. My suggestion is to at least go half way. It is so much easier to bury the PVC conduit before the lawn is in. If you can afford the electronics yet, or the sprinkler heads, these can easily be added later. Take your time, and be thorough as you plan for your sprinkler system. Decide where your valve boxes will be in advance and just cap off your PVC temporarily.
When it comes to plants, don’t fall into the temptation to have the best yard in year one. Unless you have done this before, you will be in for a surprise. Often times, the expensive exotic plant will not do well in your yard and not be worth the price. For some areas, consider landscaping with wood chips, or using native vegetation such as sage brush.
