Everything Close to Home
With so much of the state still undeveloped, there always seems to be a lot of land for sale in Maine. Unfortunately, not all real estate is created equal so you have to do your research when you’re looking for a good piece of land in Maine. Unless you are kind of like a hermit, you should make sure that some commercial entertainment and attractions are mixed in with the beautiful landscape when you purchase a piece of property.
The large lots at Great Brooks Preserve are particularly attractive because they nestled in a beautiful and untouched natural environment that will never be over-developed but they are also close to man-made attractions like ski resorts, golf courses and shopping centers.
Some of these attractions are just minutes away while others, like the scenic little town of North Conway, NH, are more like an hour away. The drive will be worth the trip though even if you only visit Zeb’s General store. I love the old fashioned décor, like wooden barrels filled with goods, and I always pick out a couple treats at the candy counter.
There are a lot of outdoor attractions in the Great Brook Preserve itself too. As the name denotes, there are streams and waterfall close by that you can visit while you hike, picnic, bike and camp. One new attraction that runs adjacent to the Great Brook Preserve is a 180-mile trail system that connects Moosehead Lake to Newry. Hiking and camping will be especially easy to enjoy on this trail because there are huts along the way and it is so close to home.
If you want to get away from Maine in the winter because of the cold, Great Brooks Preserve is a wise investment because it is close to the ski resorts and you will probably be able to rent out your house to visiting skiers while you head south.
Perhaps you really would prefer a piece of property away from everyone else, but if you want a good mix of privacy, natural beauty and local entertainment, you might want to look into the lots and homes at the Great Brook Preserve.
