Full Spectrum Bulbs For a Better Mood
In the winter, I hate how much time that I spend inside the house. It seems like the short days and the cold weather drain my energy. I don’t get depressed but I’m also not as energetic and happy as I am during the spring and summer. One of my friends suggested that I try switching some of our lamps, especially the one where I sit and read (my favorite winter occupation), to full spectrum bulbs.
She insisted that just changing the lights to ones that more closely matched natural daylight would make me feel better, be more relaxed and yet still be more productive. I had looked at buying a fancy light machine a few years ago but was put off by the high price and having to add another thing to my routine. However, just changing the Specialty Light Bulbs in a lamp I already had seemed easy enough.
I looked at bulbdirect.com which has an incredible range of specialty bulbs. They had a number of full spectrum bulbs for under $10. I ended up putting them in both the living room and my bedroom. I won’t say the difference is amazing but I won’t go back to regular bulbs. The room seems warmer and I do feel more relaxed. I feel like I’m getting more things accomplished. When my sister came to visit, she asked what I had changed. I made her try to guess but she couldn’t figure it out. She was surprised when I told her that it was just different bulbs in the lamps.
