Head Lice Cures

For a few summers during my high school and college years, I worked at a summer camp for kids aged eight to fourteen. I have very vivid memories of these summers, as they were among some of the most fun, care-free times of my life. There were times, however, that were quite trying and difficult – like the time we were forced to deal with a massive head lice outbreak.

This was my first, and hopefully only, experience with head lice – one which, even though I wasn’t personally affected, gave me plenty of experience in dealing with lice and lice cures. One of our younger girl campers, coming from a very difficult home situation, had been infected with the lice before joining our camp. There were no physical screenings going into the camp, so by the third day her entire cabin was infected.

By the next day, we had sent home 25 percent of our campers leaving us emotionally drained and searching for lice cures and prevention methods that would ensure this did not happen again. To my knowledge, the camp still screens all the children for head lice on the first day of camp – an unfortunate side effect from that one incident that plagued us 10 years ago.

Lice Cures – New Studies and Information

I recently read an article on FairyTalesHairCare.com about how some lice cures don’t necessarily work as advertised. According to the article, head lice are showing resistance to treatments that contain pyrethroids which is the active ingredient in many common head lice lotions and shampoos. Additionally, FairyTalesHairCare.com offers several innovative products and lice cures that have shown some promise.

Having (or dealing with a child who has) head lice is no laughing matter and can be quite arduous. Luckily studies are continuing to improve our knowledge about lice cures and treatment, making it much more easy to deal with should the dreaded occasion ever befall you or a loved on.
