UFC Brings Joy and Prosperity
Posted in Business on April 8th, 2011A few years ago, I had a colleague in the customer service department at a place where I used to work. He was really into ultimate fighting. He followed all of the up and coming fighters and could tell you all of the statistics on the more veteran participants. It honestly was like a religion to him. Whenever there was a major event that was all we would hear about at work. It was actually kind of fun, because he would really get excited about what was going to be happening, what was happening at the time, and the results of whatever happened. I know of very few people who followed something as closely as he followed the UFC. He was also involved in the local fight scene and helped out at various fight clubs in the area. He fought a little himself, and was in pretty good shape for his age.
Imagine his excitement when it was announced that a UFC fighter was going to be sponsoring one of our products! He was over the moon. As a sponsor of the product, the fighter was also a customer. So my friend, as a member of the customer service team, was able to get to know him on a personal basis. The fighter was based out of Hawaii, and whenever he had a match our company colors were flown and the company’s insignia was on his fight clothes. We were able to work it out so that some of our office crew was able to go to a match, and of course my friend was included in the trip. They were in Hawaii for about a week, not only watching the match, but working with the fighter as they did special promotions for the company and the various products. When they got home, everyone was a bit more tanned, and all of them had an added appreciation for the UFC coupon code and ultimate fighting in general.
We both left that company a few years ago, but through the wonders of social networking and social media, we are both still in touch with the ultimate fighter. I do not think he sponsors that company’s product anymore. They’ve had a lot of financial troubles over the years, but it is good to see he’s still fighting, still winning, and still giving back to the community. He really is a great guy and an amazing fighter.
